Approximately 25 school districts, private schools and universities in the Ashland and surrounding area are coming together to provide an ever changing look at education throughout the years.
This program will be presented immediately before the fireworks on July 4th, on stage at the Riverfront.
On July 4, 2012 Summer Motion is celebrating red, white and the blues. Blues provided by critically acclaimed guitarist Jonny Lang. Lang's profession music career began in 1994, when he was just 14 with the release of the album Smokin'. Seventeen years and seven albums later, he's only gotten better. He's toured with some of the biggest blues and rock acts around, including Buddy Guy, Aerosmith and Sting.
It is about time, if you haven’t already, to start scheduling your summer shows and one show you don't want to miss is the Summer Motion Arts & Crafts show. The show is scheduled for June 30 & July 1 and it will be held in downtown Ashland’s Central Park. Summer Motion brings in top country, rock and gospel artists each year to perform free concerts in Central Park.
HeartChase Ashland brings families, friends, and coworkers of all ages together in a community-wide competition to uncover clues, solve puzzles and complete challenges in a race to the finish line. We plan to run the chase from Ashland Central Park and around several locations in the downtown area.
Summer Motion 2012’s 10K Race looks to be a great day of celebrating health and the joy of running, or just enjoying a nice walk. The race begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 30.

The Summer Motion Bicycle Tour (A Ride Between the Parks) is a selection of three different scenic and challenging routes each starting and finishing at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park. All rides are on paved roads. The long ride (100 miles) and the medium ride (60 miles) will go through Carter Caves State Resort Park. The short ride (30 miles) will start and finish at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park.

This year we've booked two giants of classic rock, Randy Bachman (of The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive) and Fred Turner (of Bachman Turner Overdrive). They've reunited to create a new rock powerhouse, Bachman & Turner.
If you ever need proof that hard work and dedication pay off, just take a look at the Eli Young Band. Just four guys who met in college, they've built their musical by touring. They started playing 11 years ago to small clubs in Texas, honing their music and moving to larger venues as their audiences grew. Now you'll find they're everywhere, appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay leno or opening for Alan Jackson or Dave Mathews.
